Schneider Electric launches environment-focused enterprise software suite

Energy management and automation company Schneider Electric introduces a suite of integrated solutions designed to create smart, green infrastructure.

The Infrastructure of the Future suite offers a holistic approach to propel the businesses and economies of tomorrow, while tackling the challenges of ongoing global urbanization and the causes and impacts of climate change, the company says.

The suite’s integrated solutions include software for data-driven insights, services to improve operations and business continuity, solutions for electric mobility and green technologies, and programs to accelerate the energy transition.

Executive Vice President of Power Systems and Services at Schneider Electric Frederic Godemel explains that resilient infrastructure is a key enabler of productivity and economic development.

However, he notes that climate change and rapid growth in urbanization have made it even more crucial for governments, municipalities, public infrastructure owners, energy grids and transportation providers to make well-planned investments in smarter and greener solutions to support economic growth.

“In an era of climate change, intensifying natural disasters and rapid urbanization, infrastructure systems are under immense pressure to provide resilient and reliable services.

“With urban environments also heavily dependent on the ability of infrastructure to handle the electrification of public transport, we need a green revolution in infrastructure to keep energy flowing, transport moving and protecting businesses and society against climate change,” says Godemel.

Stimulating the need for Infrastructure of the Future, Schneider Electric said in a statement that the increasing number of extreme weather events around the world is one of the main causes of disruption to electricity, water and transport infrastructure. This disruption costs businesses $300 billion every year.

Additionally, with more than six billion people expected to live in urban areas by 2050, the demand for low-carbon, resilient infrastructure is growing. The company says cities will need to manage the mass adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), electrified public transport and smart buildings powered by reliable, renewable energy sources and new microgrid technologies.

Expanding population and growing energy demand will also lead to fluctuating demands and the development of so-called energy “prosumers” with self-generated energy sources. This will put additional pressure on aging energy infrastructure, which will need to be more efficient and resilient to stay ahead of the energy transition.

SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS

Designed for urban infrastructure, Infrastructure of the Future includes a set of open, interoperable software solutions that help infrastructure owners balance progress with sustainability for all.

This includes EcoStruxure for e-mobility – an end-to-end connected solution that goes beyond EV chargers, is easy to install, maintains building power reliability, and provides a convenient experience for EV drivers.

There is also ETAP Train Power Simulation – eTraX – a validated, user-friendly and flexible software tool for AC and DC railway infrastructure design, analysis and management by ETAP, part of Schneider’s agnostic software portfolio .

The Infrastructure of the Future Suite also includes AVEVA Unified Operations Center, a central hub solution for infrastructure operators that transforms the control room into a collaborative workspace.

EcoStruxure’s Energy and Sustainability Services, meanwhile, facilitate energy and sustainability expertise to help businesses turn energy into a controllable expense, increase efficiency and achieve their sustainable development goals.

The fifth element of the suite, EcoStruxure Microgrid Advisor is a cloud-based demand-side energy management software platform that enables users to automatically collect, predict and improve the operation of distributed energy resources across the globe. using predictive algorithms.
